Malarkey Lightning Special

 

Design: Simon Brewin, Malarkey Engineering.
The design inspiration was a mid 1960s BSA A65 Lightning. Design ques carried through to the 21st Century Lightning include the tank, side panels, and engine.


Frame: Metal Malarkey Engineering 1 off T45 steel bronze welded frame. Metisse Mk 3 inspired


Hubs: Thunderbird front. Sportster rear.

Rims: XS performance - Front 2.5 x 18
Rear 3.0 x 18


Tyres: Avon Road Rider - Front 110 / 80 / 18
Rear 130 / 70 / 18

 

Brakes: Thunderbird front 4 pot with Magura Master cylinder. Rear 2 pot, Brembo Master cylinder.

Front disc – 320mm semi floating.
Rear disc – 250mm fixed disc.


 

Forks and Yokes: Forks - Thunderbird 43mm.
Yokes – Thunderbird Sport

 

Rear Suspension: Hagon Classic half shroud

Engine: Built by JHS Racing including R & R Billet alloy conrods, high delivery oil pump,
alloy clutch basket and pressure plate.

 

Electronics: Motogadget M Unit, chrono classic speedo and keyless ignition. Tri spark electronic ignition, Oberon bar end indicators.

Exhausts: Metal Malarkey Engineering St/St TT style Armours silencers.

 

Rearsets: Barleycorn
 

Seat: P&P

 

Tinware: Fuel tank modified original steel Lightning. Oil tank modified standard. Side panels modified Lightning. Rear mudguard modified stainless. Front mudguard modified stainless including fork brace.

 

Powder coating: Redditch powder coaters, Cambrian Powder coaters.

Painting: We Spray Anything, Bromsgrove. Grahams Garage, Caerhowel


Wheel base: 1403 mm

Ground clearance: 215 mm
Rake: 25 degrees

Trail: 100 mm
Dry Weight: 155 kg
